OSGEO Lab, University of Nottingham, Malaysia campus

OSGEO Lab, University of Nottingham, Malaysia campus (OSGEO.UNMC) is dedicated to promoting open-source geospatial technologies via education, training and research with particular interest in geobig data analytics and applications to urban environment, disaster management, agriculture and public health.

OSGEO-UNMC research lab was established in 2012 within the School of Geography, University of Nottingham, Malaysia campus. The lab is dedicated to promoting open-source geospatial technologies via education, training and research with particular interest in geobig data analytics and applications to urban environment, disaster management, agriculture and public health.

We are currently focusing in 3 main research lines: remote sensing data fusion and mining, high performance and cloud computing for remote sensing processing services, and geospatial applications. In addition, we have developed and implemented open-source resources in higher education, industry training and consultancy. Since beginning, we are a member of Geo For All, an ICA-ISPRS-OSGEO worldwide lab network, and currently serve as Chair of Asia (incl. Australia) region. We invite you learn more about us here and feel free to come to visit us for potential collaboration.

Projects and activities
3 main activities include researches on development and deployment of open-source geospatial resources in various applications, develop open-source geospatial material for education and training, promote open-source geospatial technologies applications in Malaysia and the region.
Selected research projects:
. Deployment of OSGEO tools in teaching and learning
. Remote sensing image understanding services on cloud-computing platform
. Remote sensing data synergy for monitoring large-scale construction projects
. Crowd-sourcing interactive quality data assessment
. Urban growth monitoring with multi-scale remote sensing approach
